00:00:06.733 --> 00:00:10.500
It all started my junior year in college,
00:00:11.167 --> 00:00:14.667
and I thought I want
to be a thoracic surgeon,
00:00:14.733 --> 00:00:17.900
a cardiothoracic surgeon,
because my mom had a bad heart,
00:00:18.033 --> 00:00:19.500
and she always needed a surgery,
00:00:19.567 --> 00:00:21.996
and then after her care
in the emergency rooms,
00:00:22.062 --> 00:00:23.600
and I thought I'll be able to fix her.
00:00:23.667 --> 00:00:27.200
But by the time she had a surgery all
completed and successfully done,
00:00:27.700 --> 00:00:29.667
she didn't really need me anymore.
00:00:29.733 --> 00:00:31.400
But at the same time,
I was in the emergency room
00:00:31.467 --> 00:00:34.900
for about 5 years as a volunteer
in the local hospital,
00:00:35.133 --> 00:00:38.500
and I realized maybe this is not the path
that I should be choosing.
00:00:38.667 --> 00:00:42.167
When I walked
into my friend's family practice,
00:00:42.300 --> 00:00:47.500
and I realized dentistry
is a little different from medical side.
00:00:47.600 --> 00:00:50.633
It actually has a lot more
personable touch,
00:00:50.733 --> 00:00:53.700
and you get to really
know your patients really well.
00:00:54.000 --> 00:00:56.067
From that point,
I realized this is something
00:00:56.133 --> 00:00:57.533
that maybe I should be doing,
00:00:57.600 --> 00:01:01.967
and then I can actually see myself
doing this most of my career.
00:01:02.167 --> 00:01:04.733
The first time I saw
dental implant surgery,
00:01:05.000 --> 00:01:07.333
and that just drove me right into it,
00:01:07.400 --> 00:01:10.300
and then I knew I wanted
to do dental surgery.
00:01:10.867 --> 00:01:13.700
Building up the trust
and the relationship,
00:01:14.033 --> 00:01:17.333
I think that's the most enjoyable
part in my career so far.
00:01:17.833 --> 00:01:21.367
When I'm with the patients,
I feel myself at ease
00:01:21.467 --> 00:01:24.100
because I get to really
focus on the patients.
00:01:24.167 --> 00:01:30.100
I enjoy educating the patients
and finding out what the patient needs is,
00:01:30.400 --> 00:01:33.300
and that's the best part of my time,
00:01:33.367 --> 00:01:36.400
an 8-10 hour working time that I have.
