What Is Gum Disease?
Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease or periodontitis, is an inflammation of the gums that occurs when bacteria turn to plaque and tartar and sticks to the teeth both above and below the gumline. This leads to the breakdown of supportive bone and gum tissues. I was experiencing bone loss and other problems with my implanted tooth. Dr. Han did not immediately suggest surgery (as some doctors are prone to do). Instead, he checked and rechecked my gums and tooth over a course of several months. He trained me how to take care of and heal my gums. He was patient and encouraging — he truly cared about my health. He wanted to make sure that all was healthy enough before the procedure and crown placement. Dr. Han did a perfect job. He is an excellent doctor, and I highly recommend him!
